The Hobart Hurricanes might need to take a closer look at their drafting process next season. Their third draft pick in Rishad Hossain has not been given a release from the BPL and is very unlikely to play for the Hurricanes this season. As a result, The Canes have added Hassan Khan (Pakistan) along with the West Indian power hitter in Shai Hope. Hopefully the team in purple can keep a more consistent lineup this season and finish with more wins than losses. Must-Have Wicket Keeper / Batsman
Shai Hope - 31
The Canes went out and drafted West Indian wicketkeeper/bat Shai Hope on day 1 with the clear intent to add some stability and firepower to their top order. His WK/Bat dual status means you can still play him in your squad alongside the likes of Wade and McDermott if you like. He’s another new addition to the game, so jump onto the Transfer Market and pick one up before he goes off in round 1.
Must-Have Bowler
Nathan Ellis - 30
Although the Hurricanes lineup looks bowler heavy, a number of those players have All Rounder status in GDS. As such, Nathan Ellis should be the star bowler for The Canes. The 30 year old has been playing some top tier T20 cricket with the Aussie side against Pakistan recently. In game 1 of the series, albeit a shortened game, Ellis took 3 for 9 off 2 overs. Lock and load the right arm speedster.
Must-Have All-Rounder
Chris Jordan - 36
Hobart have secured Chris Jordan for the next 2 years and they’ll be expecting a big return, hoping he can at least match but likely build on last season’s stellar form. He’s got a great role in this team, likely floating in the batting order to come out and pinch-hit toward the end of the innings, he’ll bowl 4 each match and is trusted in some of the fielding hot spots like deep mid-wicket and long off.Â
